How to connect
The first time you use a tool, your browser opens PDF.dk, you sign in and approve the access. The assistant remembers the connection after that.
Claude
- Open Settings › Connectors on claude.ai (or in Claude Desktop) and choose Add custom connector.
- Paste the server URL https://pdf.dk/api/mcp and save.
- Enable the connector in a conversation and sign in with your PDF.dk account when Claude asks.
ChatGPT
- Open Settings › Connectors in ChatGPT (developer mode under Advanced is required) and choose Create.
- Paste the server URL https://pdf.dk/api/mcp, pick OAuth as authentication and save.
- Select PDF.dk in a conversation and approve the access with your PDF.dk account.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http pdfdk https://pdf.dk/api/mcp
Cursor
{ "mcpServers": { "pdfdk": { "url": "https://pdf.dk/api/mcp" } } }Sign in with your account
The MCP server uses OAuth 2.1. Your assistant never sees your password – it gets a token that can only run tools. You can revoke the access at any time.
Same quota as on the site
Every file the assistant processes counts as a file on your account: free accounts have 20 files per 30 days, Pro is unlimited. The assistant can check what is left by itself.
Tools in the MCP server
The same tools as on pdf.dk – the name in the assistant is pdfdk_ followed by the tool name. See all tools
Frequently asked questions
- What is MCP?
- Model Context Protocol is an open standard for how AI assistants use external tools and data. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and others support it, so one server works in all of them.
- Do I need a Pro account?
- No. A free PDF.dk account covers 20 files per 30 days. Pro gives unlimited files and larger files.
- How does the file get to PDF.dk?
- The assistant sends either a public link to the file or the file itself (up to 25 MB inline). The result comes back as a temporary download link that works for 60 minutes.
- Are my files safe?
- Files are processed on servers in the Nordics and deleted automatically after download or within 24 hours. You can download a deletion certificate on pdf.dk as always.
- How do I revoke the access?
- Remove the connector in your AI app, or sign in to pdf.dk and remove the app under your account. The token stops working.
- Does it work for companies and teams?
- Yes. Each employee connects with their own PDF.dk account so usage is booked correctly. If you need a shared account or SSO, write to sales@pdf.dk.
- Which tools are missing?
- Tools that take several files at once (merge PDF, for example) and the interactive editors come in a later version. All single-file tools are in from the start.
