- What is in the PDF?
- A landscape A4 sheet with four views of the model and a panel with dimensions, volume, surface area and triangle count.
- Which unit is used?
- STL stores numbers, not units. We read them as millimetres because that is the standard in almost all 3D software. You can switch to inches.
- Is the drawing vector?
- Yes. Every face is a shape in the PDF, so the sheet stays sharp however far you zoom or print.
- What does watertight mean?
- That the surface is completely closed. If it is not, the volume cannot be computed exactly and a 3D printer will usually complain too.
- Is my model stored?
- No. The file is processed on servers in the Nordics and deleted automatically within 24 hours. You get a certificate for the deletion.
- Can I get the volume of my STL file?
- Yes. The sheet reports volume in cubic centimetres, surface area, outer dimensions and triangle count. Volume is computed on the whole model and is exact as long as the model is closed.
- How do I measure an STL file without 3D software?
- Upload it here. Width, depth and height appear on the sheet next to the three projections, so you can read and document the dimensions without installing anything.
- Does it work with files from Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Tinkercad and Blender?
- Yes. Every one of them exports STL as either binary or ASCII, and both are read here.
- Can I use the sheet as a production drawing?
- It is an overview with outer dimensions and key figures, not a full production drawing with tolerances and sections. For documentation, quotes and talking to a customer or a print bureau it is precise enough.
